Kingsport, Tenn. & Des Moines, Iowa (April 9, 2024) – A double header of events this past weekend saw Wrestlers from all over coming to battle on the mats. The AAU Elementary Schools Duals took place in Kingsport, Tennessee while the Middle School & Freshman/Sophomore Duals took place in West Des Moines, Iowa. A total of forty-nine (49) teams total across the three school divisions stepped on the mat, with only a few being able to walk home with an AAU Championship.
MeadowView Marriott Convention Center continued to play host for the AAU Elementary School Duals on April 5-7. Eleven (11) total teams from 6 different states participated this past weekend. The states represented were Iowa, Tennessee, Missouri, Nebraska, Georgia, and Maryland. With 19 different weight classes ranging from 40 pounds to 220 pounds, we saw a variety of athletes wrestling for their chance to win. To close out the weekend, Iowa took on Tennessee Black in the championship matchup. Iowa finished 10-0 to take down Tennessee Black 54-47 in the finals to capture their AAU Championship.
HyVee Hall at the Iowa Events Center in West Des Moines, Iowa was the home for the AAU Middle School & Freshman/Sophomore Duals. The 2024 AAU Lee Pamulak Middle School National Duals featured twenty (20) teams. Each team had wrestlers in 20 different weight classes, starting with 75 pounds and going up to 250 pounds, after the completion of pool play our gold bracket was set with 8 teams earning their spot. Ultimately it was Tennessee Black who took home the AAU Middle Schools National duals title with a 45-39 win over Montana Gold in the finals. Tennessee Black went undefeated throughout the tournament by outscoring their opponents 524-85.
